Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman has officially been recognised by Guinness World Records after a breakthrough season that saw him smash three age records with the Premier League champions, receiving his certificates at the club's training ground this week.

The 16-year-old was presented with the trio of official titles as Guinness World Records launches its Football Edition 2027, naming the England youth international as the youngest star in its "Class of '27" line-up. For a teenager who cannot even sign a professional contract until he turns 17 on December 31, it is a remarkable haul.

Youngest Champions League player in history

Dowman's headline record is the most prestigious of the three. Aged just 15 years and 308 days, he came off the bench in Arsenal's away win over Slavia Prague last November to become the youngest player ever to feature in the UEFA Champions League. The previous mark had been held by Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko — and Dowman shattered it by 75 days.

That European debut capped a whirlwind first season under Mikel Arteta. Dowman first trained with the senior side at 14, made his Premier League bow from the bench against Leeds in August 2025 — winning a penalty on his debut — and became Arsenal's youngest-ever starter when he lined up against Brighton in the Carabao Cup at 15 years and 302 days.

A Premier League record-breaker at both ends

The other two certificates recognise Dowman's historic feats in the league. His superb solo effort against Everton in March, struck in the 97th minute of a 2-0 victory, made him the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days. Then, when Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the title in May, Dowman became the youngest player ever to win the Premier League at 16 years and 144 days.

He finished the campaign with six league appearances — more than enough for a winner's medal — and was even named in the matchday squad for the Champions League final. His first-team debut actually came in pre-season against AC Milan in Singapore in July 2025, and he never looked back, ending the season with 15 senior appearances across all competitions.

Class of '27 and a career to follow

Tom Beckerlegge, Senior Editor of Guinness World Records Football Edition 2027, paid tribute to the teenager's astonishing rise, noting that Dowman sums up what the Class of '27 is all about after achieving three world record titles before his 17th birthday. The certificates were pictured outside the Gunners' training base as part of the book's launch celebrations.

Dowman has shown no sign of slowing down this season either. He hit a brace as Arsenal dispatched Ipswich 4-2 in the Carabao Cup, and he has already signed a pre-contract agreement on the terms of his first professional deal with his boyhood club, which will come into effect once he turns 17.

England team-mate Declan Rice has previously called him the best 15-year-old in the country, and with Arsenal defending their crown under the newly extended Arteta, the Hale End academy graduate looks set to play an even bigger role in the months ahead.

Beyond the Final Whistle: Max Dowman has turned a boyhood dream into the record books before his 17th birthday, and the frightening part for every other club in England and Europe is that he is only just getting started.
